General tree description

Abies veitchii is a large and fast-growing tree reaching 28 metres tall. It has a narrowly conic crown, and grey or grey-brown bark, smooth but lined horizontally. The foliage is dense, with leaves 1 to 2.5cm long, shiny green and grooved above, and two broad, bright silver bands below. The branch tips sweep up to show the silvery undersides. The cones are cylindrical, small, 5 to 7cm long, and blue-purple when young.
