General tree description

Prunus padus Watereri is a variant of the native European bird cherry and is a medium sized tree that can grow to 25 metres tall, though more commonly to around 15 metres. It has an open and untidy shape. In spring it has fragrant, white flowers in drooping clusters 20cm long, followed by small, black berries which are quickly taken by birds. The leaves are ovate, 15cm long and light green, turning yellow in autumn.
