General tree description
Aesculus x carnea 'Plantierensis' is a cross of the Common horse chestnut, Aesculus hippocastanum, and the Red horse chestnut, Aesculus x carnea (itself a cross of the Common horse chestnut and Red buckeye, Aesculus pavia). It is a large tree with a heavy crown. The leaves are dark green and five to seven-lobed. The flowers are large candles, up to 40cm tall, the same size as those of the A. hippocastanum, and a soft pink colour. This tree does not fruit.
