General tree description

Cornus capitata is a medium sized, spreading tree or shrub, up to 18 metres in height, and with slightly scaly, grey-brown bark. The leaves are leathery, elliptic and up to 12cm long. In summer there are clusters of tiny, yellow-green flowers surrounded by cream-white bracts 4 to 5cm long. The flowers are followed by strawberry-like fruits.
