General tree description
Prumnopitys andina is an evergreen conifer native to the Chilean Andes and adjacent ares of Argentina. It can grow up to 20 metres tall, with an ovoid crown. Leaves are dark blue-green on both sides and linear in shape, 2 to 3 cm long and 2 mm broad. Pollen cones come in groups of 10-20 on a short shoot, 5mm and cylindrical. The fruit is plum-like, 2 to 3 cm long, yellow when ripe.
