General tree description

Ilex macrocarpa is a small to medium sized, deciduous holly tree first introduced from Southwest China in 1907. Its leaves are bright green, ovate to elliptic in shape, and serrated (but not prickly). The flowers appear in the spring with green-white blooms. The berries are black, cherry-like and surprisingly large.
