General tree description

A cultivar of Ilex aquifolium, the native common holly, Ilex aquifolium 'Angustifolia' is a dense multi-stemmed shrub with an upright spreading form and purple stems. Sometimes called Narrowleaf English holly, it has narrow glossy leaves, 4 cm long and 1.25 cm wide, long-pointed and with between 10 and 16 marginal spines. The berries are bright red and present throughout winter.
