General tree description

Liquidambar orientalis is a large tree in its native (warm) habitat but usually small and bushy in Britain, growing to around 10 metres. It has light brown, square-cracked bark and small, hairless, deeply five-lobed leaves with additional broad teeth on each lobe. In autumn the leaves are richly coloured orange and red.
