General tree description

Alnus incana 'Aurea' is a cultivar of the Grey alder, Alnus incana. This is a small tree with grey bark that becomes cracked with age. Its leaves are up to 10cm long, broad and pointed, deeply toothed or shallowly lobed, and grey and downy beneath. 'Aurea' has a slender shape, yellow foliage and red/pink tinted catkins. Its yellow shoots turn orange in winter
