General tree description
Malus x zumi 'Golden Hornet' is a small tree, with a broad ovoid crown, reaching up to 9 metres tall. It has elliptic leaves around 6cm long, and white 3cm flowers that emerge from pink buds. The fruits are bright yellow, around 20mm across, globular or obovoid, in bunches of six or more weighing down the branches. They turn brown and rot on the tree, lingering into winter.
(M. x zumi is a hybrid of M. baccata var. mandschuria and M. toringo.)
