General tree description

Fitzroya cupressoides is a huge and long lived tree in its natural habitat - some individuals are thought to be 3000 years old. In cultivation it is a small dense tree, growing slowly to around 20 metres. It has an untidy shape and weeping foliage. The leaves are dark blue-green, cypress-like, growing in threes. The cones are small (6mm) and comprise nine scales.
