General tree description
Crataegus persimilis 'Prunifolia' is a small, broad-headed tree, usually around 6 metres tall, but exceptionally 9 metres. Its bark is grey-brown and very scaly. The leaves are broad ovate, up to 8cm, dark glossy green and toothed but not lobed. They are richly coloured in autumn. The flowers are white, 1.5cm and appear in spring. In autumn the fruits are dark red haws, up to 15mm diameter.
