This tree is at the south end of the Hawthorn group, roughly midway between the footpath and the canal. No thorns were seen on the tree.
General tree description
Crataegus heldreichii is a small tree with leaves similar in shape to the Common hawthorn (up to 6cm long, deeply cut, with lobes toothed at the tips). In spring it has white flowers. The fruits are red haws, 22mm wide, containing one to three pips.
